Twi’lek

From the dry, rocky world of Ryloth, Twi’leks have made a place for themselves across the Galaxy, but not originally by choice. These tall, thin humanoids include a variety of distinct subraces of different colors but are all instantly recognizable by the tentacular “Head-Tails (called Lekku) that protrude from the backs of their heads. Sly, calculating beings, Twi’leks prefer to avoid trouble and stick to the shadows until an opportunity to act without undue danger to themselves presents itself. Their entrepreneurial spirit leads them to positions of influence, and Twi’lek make excellent ambassadors and business executives; however, this was not always the case. Several centuries ago, Ryloth was a bastion for slavers. Many species find Twi’lek attractive and charismatic and this led to a great deal of early exploitation. Even now, many centuries later, Twi’lek colonies that are not well defended go dark, their residents taken and sold on the black market to serve at the whims of cruel war lords. Twi’leks, men and women, have learned to be wary of the Galaxy and to use their natural force of personality carefully. Ryloth is in the Outer Rim Territories and is currently independent; however, incredibly hostile to the Trade Collective and especially Hutt Space, who do not outlaw slavery. The planet’s allegiance has little sway over its people, however, as important and influential Twi’leks join the ranks of the Republic, the Kormani Federation, The Jedi, The Sith, The Exchange, and dozens of other factions and organizations.
