The Trade Collective
Also known as the Trade Collective, this faction is more like a union than a true centralized government. The Collective began as a series of companies that aligned together to develop safer trade-routes and as a result, trade monopolies on Collective goods. These worlds are major exporters of technology from droids to starships to more general goods. A few decades ago, the Collective was welcomed in many parts of the galaxy as a neutral network dedicated to certifying high quality engineers and products. The Collective is ruled by a council of investors that range from planetary diplomats, wealthy business owners, and even enigmatic planetary warlords from the outer rim. In recent history, the Collective has come under a great deal of scrutiny for its chaotic leadership and unwillingness to regulate more than trade on its planets. It has been criticized for not outlawing questionable research into cloning technology, combat and assassin droids, many types of drugs, and even slavery that is rumored to occur on outer rim worlds. The general consensus, if there is one in the Collective, is that planets should govern themselves so long as they follow trade laws set by its council. Every five years, a Council Chairman is elected to run the meetings.
